Leobardo's Success Story
Leobardo was admitted with Guillain-Barré syndrome and placed on a ventilator before being transferred to Kindred Hospital. Through intensive respiratory therapy and rehabilitation, he was quickly liberated from the ventilator, regained his mobility and independence, and was successfully discharged home.
Leobardo was admitted to the local hospital with Guillain-Barré syndrome and was placed on a ventilator to assist in his breathing. Once his condition stabilized, he was referred to Kindred Hospital for ventilator liberation and advanced medical care.
At Kindred, Leobardo received specialized treatment from an interdisciplinary care team that included a pulmonologist, respiratory therapists, and rehabilitation specialists. He dedicated himself to advanced breathing techniques aimed at strengthening his lungs and his endurance. Remarkably, within a mere two weeks of admission, Leobardo was liberated from the ventilator, breathing independently once again.
Free from the ventilator, Leobardo was able to participate in more aggressive therapy. Progressing from bed to chair, and from chair to walker, Leobardo made remarkable strides in his recovery. With persistence and dedication, he began to walk with the assistance of a walker, and eventually to walk and perform activities of daily living on his own.
Meeting and surpassing all the goals outlined in his care plan, Leobardo was deemed ready for discharge and returned home.
Care for Complex Conditions
Patients come to our hospitals with serious conditions such as respiratory failure, complex wounds, sepsis, stroke, congestive heart failure, or even a combination of these. Their diagnoses are often complicated by existing health problems like diabetes or COPD. Many of our patients require treatments such as mechanical ventilators, dialysis, or IV therapy.
