Mr. Chapa's Success Story

From Solara Specialty Hospital McAllen

At Solara Specialty Hospitals McAllen, our patients and their resilience inspire us to make a difference!

When Mr. Chapa transferred to Solara to receive continued care for respiratory failure, he was on a ventilator and couldn’t sit, stand, or walk without assistance.

With the support of Mr. Chapa’s family, our interdisciplinary team designed an intensive treatment plan to empower Mr. Chapa to regain his independence. Mr. Chapa committed to this treatment plan and worked hard to accomplish his goals. As our rehabilitation team rebuilt his mobility, our respiratory team weaned Mr. Chapa from the ventilator!

With the ability to breathe on his own again, Mr. Chapa’s endurance improved. He was able to get out of bed and walk without any assistance!

This week, our case managers coordinated a home discharge with Mr. Chapa and his family! Congratulations, Mr. Chapa!

Care for Complex Conditions

Patients come to our hospitals with serious conditions such as respiratory failure, complex wounds, sepsis, stroke, congestive heart failure, or even a combination of these. Their diagnoses are often complicated by existing health problems like diabetes or COPD. Many of our patients require treatments such as mechanical ventilators, dialysis, or IV therapy.
